I switched from Ubuntu to Arch Linux

So, as most of you have seen. I have made a big switch from WIndows to Linux, that was a big step in and of itself. I have never used Windows again since I have switched. In fact I deleted my Windows partition while installing Arch Linux.

So why have I switched? I switched form the same reason I switched from Windows, it was too bloated. Ubuntu come with so many packages that I didn’t need that it slowed me down. The Arch Linux FTP/HTTP install takes so little space compared to the base Ubuntu install.

Also in my opinion I think the pacman (Arch package tool) is much better at handeling packages than apt(Debians package tool). Pacman justr easily download packages in a second, and installs them without worry, with Ubuntu I had many stuggles to get some packages to be downloaded by apt.

Now I am not saying Ubuntu is a great distro for Linux beginners, because indeed it is. What I am saying is that any person who feels confident that they can take a step above Ubuntu should definitley take a look at arch Linux. The documentation on the site including their wiki can be helpful in figuring out how to install arch.

So, in the end Linux (either Ubuntu,Arch,Red Hat,Suse,Puppy etc)still defeats Windows right? I still think that Linux can change the world, free software + community = something great. Thats the way I see Linux, and the Linux community.

P.S. To all the faithful readers still out there, thank you for being patient with me. School is now over and I should be getting back on track with my schedule.
